This edition of Beauty and The Beast centers around two powerhouse hair products that you can use on your hair and your horses mane and tail. My husband’s reining horse Ima Hollywood Dreamer aka Dreamer has a long mane and tail that had become dry and brittle and started breaking off. Since my husband loves Dreamer’s long mane, we went into mane saving mode and started trying a wide variety of products to help.

I reached into my own hair supplies and pulled out a perennial favorite, It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin Spray Conditioner. This lightweight spray conditioner penetrates deep into the hair shaft to rebuild dry, damaged hair from the inside out. It contains keratin and panthenol (helps strengthen the hair), sunflower extract (natural sunscreen that protects hair from the sun), green tea leaf extract (shields hair from environmental damage with antioxidants), silk amino acids (restores moisture and shine) and vitamin c (defends hair strength and beauty). I spray it on his mane and tail daily and it has really helped soften and moisturize his mane. It also acts as an amazing detangler so I am less likely to pull hair out while brushing. I have also used it on my other horses when they rub the top of their tails and it helps fix the damage from rubbing while also providing much needed moisture to their dry tails. I use it on my own hair every morning, spritzing it while wet before blow drying. It keeps my fine blonde hair soft and conditioned without weighing it down and protects it from the heat of the blow dryer.

The second product that has really helped Dreamer’s mane is Redken’s All Soft MegaMask. I grabbed this one off the shelf at Ulta and thought let’s give it a try since I have used Redken products for years and love them. This is a two in one hair mask that is an intense conditioner and care extender for dry, brittle hair. We figured out that Dreamer’s hair was breaking off because it had become dry and brittle over the winter without being able to regularly condition it due to the cold weather. So it was our goal to re-moisturize his hair and hope it would stop breaking off and start growing again. This mask has done just that! After a few uses it has restored softness, shine and suppleness to his mane with it’s blend of omega-6 enriched argan oil and a patented protein complex. After I use it on his white mane, it is soft, shiny, fluffy and flowing. It just looks and feels healthy again.

After I saw such great results I decided to try the mask for myself and I loved it! My hair had gotten dry from a summer of sun, swimming, hot dry wind, blow drying and coloring and was in need of some TLC. This mask provided lots of moisture and helped seal up my dry, brittle ends but did not weigh my hair down or make it greasy like other masks I have tried in the past.
