Product Review: CR RanchWear Sun Savvy Shirts

I have been a big fan of CR RanchWear’s Show Shirts for some time but after back to back hot, humid horse shows, I can sing the praises of their Sun Savvy line of shirts. The Sun Savvy Shirts have the same great fit and style (slim through the body, long arms for riding, tail that stays tucked in, buttons that don’t gap, sharp, thick stand up collar and cuffs) and variety of colors/prints as the original shirts. But their secret sauce is fabric.

The Sun Savvy shirts are made from a high-tech polyester fabric that pulls moisture from perspiration away from the skin and to the surface of the fabric where it quickly evaporates. The fabric is super light weight with a slinky, cool hand that allow for great airflow, leaving you cool and dry. It also has a slight stretch to it, that makes it comfortable to move and ride in. The fiber structure and density of the polyester also protects you from harmful UV rays.

I was truly surprised at how much cooler I felt wearing my Sun Savvy Shirts versus my cotton show shirts. Even though it was really hot and humid, I felt cooler and less sweaty. If you have any shows planned for the hottest part of the summer I would highly recommend investing in one or two of these awesome shirts. They are available for Men and Women in sizes xxs-xxl and come in a variety of fun colors. You can purchase them at crranchwear.com.

Speaking of sweat, we all know how much we sweat when we ride and no matter what fabric you are wearing or how strong your deodorant is, it is impossible to always keep your underarms dry. My secret to avoiding wet sweat marks is a Numi Undershirt. The Numi Undershirt has cotton underarm shields that wick away and absorb sweat and moisture. The rest of the shirt is made from a thin, stretchy, thermo-regulating Tencel fabric. It has a super slim fit, deep scoop neck and is undetectable under my shirts. They come in a variety of colors and can be purchased at wearnumi.com.

Amazon also has less expensive versions but the fabric and fit aren’t quite nice as the Numi Undershirt, but they are very effective. This is the one I have.
