Hi.

Boot Up: My Favorite Non-Riding Boots

Boot Up: My Favorite Non-Riding Boots

There was a funny meme going around that had a pie chart that showed how much time equestrians spend on various horse/barn activities and the riding piece of the pie was tiny compared to all the other chores. We all have horses because we enjoy riding but when you own and have those horses at home you actually spend an inordinate amount of time doing other horse/barn things, such as grooming, bathing, cleaning stalls, scrubbing water tanks, picking pens, driving the tractor, sweeping, dusting, feeding and the list goes on and on. So while my riding boots do get a lot of wear these 4 non-riding boots are essential to my horse life too.

Bogs Classic Tall

I can’t say enough things about these boots! They are waterproof and insulated and keep your feet super warm and dry on even the coldest, wettest, snowiest days. These are my go-to mud boots all winter long. I wear them for barn chores and lunging horses when the temperature drops. They make awesome snow boots too!

Bogs Kicker Chelsea Boots

While the Bogs Classic Tall Boots are my go-to in the winter these Bogs are my go-to all spring and summer. These waterproof boots are easy to slip on and off to use while bathing and rinsing horses or bringing horses in from muddy pens. You can protect your leather riding boots by switching to these when water is involved. Simple, comfy and classic!

Dubarry Roscommon Boots

These boots are part fashion part practical and are great when barn and non-barn life collide. Throw them on with breeches and skinny jeans to do barn chores or run errands. They are a great mid-calf length boot that is lightweight, comfortable and waterproof. They come in stylish black and a super preppy brown leather and navy version.

Dubarry Galway Boot

I love these boots! Yes, they are expensive but so worth it! They are extremely comfortable, very warm and waterproof and just exude British country style. I wear them in and out of the barn and have had them for years and they still look new. Spoil yourself and get a pair, you won’t regret it!
