Brand Spotlight: Back On Track
Back On Track how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I am a long standing fan and believer in Back On Track products and there does not seem to be a day that goes by that I don’t use one or more of their products (that probably says more about my horses and all their issues).
We first starting using Back On Track when Dreamer pulled his suspensory a year after we bought him. He tore his suspensory as a 2 year old and was given an entire year off to heal and was able to come back and have a very successful reining career but due to the tear he has been prone to pull/re-injure it which eventually led to his retirement from reining to his now career of my ranch riding horse. When Dreamer pulled his suspensory our trainer recommended getting him a pair of Back On Track’s Quick Wraps to help facilitate his healing. He had used them to great success on another horse and thought they could help Dreamer too. We immediately ordered him pair and he wore them all thru his rehab and came back much quicker than the last time which we accredit to the Back On Track Quick Wraps.
So what makes Back On Track special and how does their technology work?
Their products are made with their special Welltex fabric. Weltex fabric utilizes the body’s own energy and reflects the energy back as a far-infrared wavelength. That far-infrared wavelength penetrates deeper into the tissues. It is proven to increase blood circulation which, in turn, will increase the oxygen transport and waste product removal to and from the tissues, muscles, joints, tendon/ligaments, etc. It is a known fact that an increased blood circulation will aid in the overall well being and health of the tissues and also in healing from some trauma and injury.
When manufacturing the polyester and polypropylene fibers that Back on Track products are made of, ceramic particles are fused into the textile fibers. The selection of these ceramic particles is based on which absorption and emission spectrum they contain. The result is that when the ceramic particles absorb the body’s energy radiation, they expel energy of a specific wavelength, which is based in the long-wave infrared zone of the thermal radiation spectrum. It is well established and documented that long-wave infrared heat radiation has a pain reducing effect and increases blood circulation.
After seeing such great results from the Quick Wraps I began collecting and using a wide variety of their other products.
Quick Wrap Boots: These are the boots Dreamer wore during his recovery and still wears now after rides and during horse shows. It also helps reduce swelling and we have used them for Shooter when his legs stock up from staying inside when the weather is bad or when he has an abscess. All of horses wear these and we love them!
Bell Boots: These help increase circulation in their hooves and can help alleviate inflammation as well as encourage hoof growth. Shooter has typical bad thoroughbred feet and a history of thin soles so I pop these on in the evenings when he is in his stall and let him wear them all night a few days a week and it has really helped his feet.
Hock Wraps: Both Shooter and Dreamer have arithritis in their hocks after years of successful horse showing and training and these boots seem to help the stiffness they sometimes get after long rides and workouts. They are super easy to use and well worth adding to your horse’s care routine.
Mesh Sheet: I bought one of these for Dreamer to wear at the QH World Show this year to help battle any soreness or stiffness he hay have had due to lots of riding and showing. It really helps ease sore muscles in their back and keeps their whole body in healthy recovery mode. I love that it is mesh and can be worn year round. I mainly use this at horse shows instead at home because so far most of my horses don’t seem to suffer from sore back issues.
Fleece Blanket: This is my newest Back On Track acquisition and I am so so about it. Hazel had EPM and still has lingering symptoms from it primarily in her hip and so I thought she would benefit from the Welltex therapy but wanted a thicker weight than the mesh sheet so she could wear it all night and still be warm. It is made from a soft, plush fleece that is divine and surprisingly shavings just brush off of it but it does not have any leg straps, only a belly strap and tail tie and it shifts around on her when she lays down. So she just wears it during the day and I switch her to her regular blanket at night. I wish Back On Track would add leg straps to it.
