The Swiss Army of Skincare
I am always on the hunt for those “holy grail” “multi-use” skincare and grooming items that I find myself grabbing for time and time again to help a whole host of issues. Nucifera’s The Balm (for me) and Equiderma’s Skin Lotion (for my horses) definitely fit into this category and quite frankly are jack of all trades, Swiss army knife products.
Nucifera The Balm is a deeply moisturizing multi-purpose balm that works to help improve skin tone and texture on a cellular level with it’s rich blend of plant-based butters and oils. Look for powerhouse ingredients such as coconut oil, avocado oil, carrot seed oil, lavender oil, frankincense oil, palo Santo oil and many more to deeply penetrate and replenish your skin, lips, knees/elbows, cuticles and even hair (anywhere that needs a little moisture and TLC).
You can use this as a moisturizer, body butter, makeup remover, shave cream, hair tamer, hair mask, massage oil and after sun treatment. I have used it with great success as all those things and have been tempted a number of times to take it to the barn and use on Dreamer’s mane but know once it goes to the barn it will never come back. My favorite use and, when I grab for it the most, is at night to help my poor dry hands after a day in the barn. I slather some on my hands and then tap a little around the fine lines by my eyes before bed and wake up with soft, smooth hands.
This little bit of magic in a bottle is a true skincare Swiss Army knife, one product that does it all. It comes in a 2oz ($24) and 4oz ($40) glass jar and a little goes a long way. Did I mention that it is also free from toxic ingredients. You can order it from Nucifera and Credo Beauty.
I have written little bit about Equiderma’s Skin Lotion before but after a few months of using it, it has really become a go-to grooming product that I would recommend anyone have on hand. This creamy skin lotion really heals a whole host of horse skin care issues that can pop up on a regular basis.
Summer weather seems to wreak more havoc on my horses than fall/winter. The hot, humid weather leads to more sweating and rinsing and wetter skin and coat can lead to fungus on legs, face or girth area. It’s blend of chlorhexidine and lavender oil quickly knock out any scurfiness that can pop up.
Shooter gets dry, hairless patches on his face from sweating every summer and this is the first summer he doesn’t have any because as soon as they appeared two applications of the Skin Lotion cleared it right up. Scout gets scratches on her back legs from walking in wet grass and more frequent leg and body rinses and this stuff totally keeps it at bay. My horses all tend to rub their tails more in the summer (I think from sweating behind their tail) and I have noticed massaging the Skin Lotion into their tail totally stops them from rubbing it and breaking the hair at the top of their tails.
I find myself reaching for Equiderma’s Skin Lotion anytime a little spot, patch or booboo appears and the next day it is gone. It comes in a 16oz $23.69 bottle (a little goes a long way) that you can purchase from Equiderma or SmartPak.
