What My Horse Wants For Christmas
The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is in full swing and I am happy to report that most of my shopping for the humans in my life is done (wrapping it all is another story). Now I can turn my attention to spoiling my four-legged loved ones. This year I have a great list of items that will make their lives and mine just a bit easier and maybe a little more fun.
Ovation Turbo Dry Cooler: Cold winter workouts and rides leads to sweaty horses and a fleece cooler that dries 3x faster is a must have. This comfortable stretch cooler offers maximum sweat evaporation that gets your horse dry really, really fast and the fabric has been treated to prevent static. This will help keep my horses warm and cozy on even the coldest day.
Slow Feed Hay Ball Feeder: Winter weather means shortened or no turnout time and boredom can easily set in. This Hay Ball Feeder holds an entire flake of hay and provides hours of entertainment and slower consumption of hay. I think my donkeys will get one too!
Equine Elixirs Tummy Gummies: I am re-stocking my stash of these amazing and easy to feed acid reducing gummies. All of my horses are big fans of them and I have noticed improved performance and comfort during rides, trailering and shows when I feed them. I will probably re-stock the Electrobites Electrolyte Gummies too. You can read why I love these so much here and here.
Equine Confections Horse Cookies: Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without cookies and my horses definitely deserve their own cookies. These adorable cookies from Equine Confections come in so many fun shapes and designs. I ordered the Cookies For Santa and the Peppermint Crunch Frappes.
X-Spand Adjust-Fit Stable Blanket: Scout and Dreamer both need new winter blankets and I am intrigued by Schneider’s newest blanket. This blanket features a deeper v front that is reinforced with a stretch panel which adds additional comfort and neck relief for your horse. With the stretch panel and stretch binding, there is virtually no pressure on your horse's upper chest/lower neck when they have their heads down eating. I have never seen this in a horse blanket and am definitely excited to see how it performs.
Incrediwear Circulation Hock Boot: I am big fan of all Incrediwear products (you can read my post about their circulation wraps here). Hock stiffness and arthritis is common in all of our show horses and these hock boots will provide a reduction in swelling, inflammation and soreness while increasing blood circulation, lymphatic draining and accelerated recovery time. These will go a long way in keeping my athletes in prime condition.
Horse Communication: I have had two sessions with Joanna Bornowski from The Wild Thread and they were so amazing and eye-opening. She was able to communicate with Dreamer and Shooter and provide a lot of insight. I want to book a session with our new horse Tiger and see what he has to tell us. If you have never used a horse communicator I highly recommend it. It is beyond fun and fascinating and can certainly help get to the root of any issues you may be having with your horse.
Guilt Free Time Off: We have all been there, we are too busy with life to get to the barn or spend the amount of time we need/want to and that can lead to a lot of guilt. So, in this busy time I am giving myself permission to not feel guilty if my horses don’t get a full grooming every day or lunged/ridden as much as I think they should. My husband reminded me awhile back that they are horses and honestly don’t care if their tails are tangle free or their hooves are oiled. As long as they are fed, warm and happy that is all that matters and honestly would enjoy a break from grooming and work from time to time too. So, get to the barn when you can but don’t stress if you can’t. It makes the days when you do have time all that more enjoyable. We all need a break from even the things we love from time to time.
If Santa is reading this, I would love this Ariat Coat and these Ariat Suede Waterproof Boots!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!!
